What Are Custom Acrylic Parts?
Custom acrylic parts are manufactured based on your CAD drawings or technical requirements through CNC milling, turning, threading, drilling, slotting, contour processing, etc. They are also called PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) parts.
Unlike ordinary acrylic sheets and display custom acrylic products, engineering CNC machined acrylic parts usually need to meet specific dimensions, tolerances, assembly, transparency, surface quality, or functional requirements.
Based on 13 years’ experience in CNC machining, Shanghai Yecheng reviews manufacturability against your end‑use requirements. Before programming, we assess wall thickness, inner chamfers, tool reach, deep‑slot features and required surface finishes.
Custom Acrylic Parts We Manufacture
Acrylic parts are widely used in our daily lives. Different engineering applications have different requirements for the structure and surface of acrylic parts. See some common products below for your reference.

We CNC machine acrylic enclosures with mounting holes, countersunk holes, grooves, internal cavities, and other assembly features according to your drawings.

For transparent cover plates, we pay close attention to edge quality, wall thickness, installation dimensions, and surface treatment requirements.

We can do custom acrylic fabrication of holes, slots, contours, chamfers, and laser marking according to your design requirements.

After you share the drawings, we will focus on evaluating the installation structure, wall thickness, fixation method, and the risk of deformation during the processing.

Such parts usually require consideration of both dimensional accuracy, transparency, sealing structure, and assembly requirements simultaneously.

If a certain area is responsible for optical functions, it is recommended to clearly mark the relevant surfaces and quality requirements in your drawings.
Custom Acrylic Parts By Applications
Acrylic can be used in many applications that require visualization, protection, insulation, or transparent structures.
ElectronicsAcrylic has excellent transparency and low weight. In electronic devices, transparent or semi-transparent parts are often required for observing internal structures, indicating lights, protecting electronic components, and achieving light transmission.
Automation EquipmentCompared with simple laser cutting or sawing, custom CNC acrylic parts can achieve higher dimensional control and more complex three-dimensional structures, enabling transparent protective parts to be precisely assembled directly with the equipment structure.
Laboratory EquipmentThe laboratory equipment often requires observing the liquid flow, the experimental process, and the internal state. The transparency of custom acrylic parts can reduce the need for disassembling the equipment for observation.
Industrial EquipmentAcrylic is suitable for use in some structural components that have requirements regarding weight, electrical insulation, non-metallic contact, or rapid prototyping in industrial applications.
Custom Acrylic Parts Materials
Custom acrylic parts are usually made from PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate) sheets. Unlike traditional plastic materials, your parts need to select the appropriate material based on the structure, tolerance, size, appearance and usage environment of the part. Common CNC acrylic materials include cast acrylic and extruded acrylic.
Cast Acrylic
For transparent enclosures device panels, as well as custom acrylic parts with precise holes, cavities, cast acrylic can be selected based on the specific design. Cast acrylic is the preferred choice for optical‑transparent finished parts.
Extruded Acrylic
Extruded acrylic is produced through extrusion technology. It is suitable for custom acrylic parts with relatively simple structures, larger dimensions, or those that are more sensitive to material costs.

Custom Acrylic Parts Surface Finishing
For custom acrylic parts, the surface treatment not only determines the appearance of the parts, but may also affect transparency, light transmission, edge effects, size, and final assembly. We offer a variety of surface treatments.
CNC machined finish
For areas that mainly perform structural or installation functions and do not have high requirements for transparency and appearance, the CNC processed surfaces can be directly retained.
Polishing
We can do flame polishing, mechanical polishing, diamond polishing, edge polishing and clear polishing. Different polishing can be achieved according to your requirements for different levels of transparency. Flame polishing may introduce minor thermal deformation, so it is not recommended for features holding ultra‑tight dimensional tolerances.
Sanding/Frosted finish
It is suitable for parts that do not want obvious reflection on the surface, need to hide the internal structure, or aim to achieve a specific product appearance.

Company Advantage

If you choose Yecheng to custom acrylic parts, you won’t have to search for different suppliers repeatedly between prototyping, mass production and quality control. We have 13 years of CNC machining experience, over 60 CNC machines and in-house polishing line, with a daily production capacity of approximately 2,000 pieces. We can quickly transition from small prototypes to stable mass production, meeting your order requirements at different stages.
For transparent, complex or parts with high requirements for appearance, we not only focus on dimensions, but also pay attention to the transparency, edge quality and surface effect of the finished products, helping to reduce common problems such as chipping, melting, stress marks and inconsistent appearance during the processing.
The CMM test machine combined with the ISO 9001:2015 quality system ensures key dimensions and batch consistency. No matter whether you need a prototype, a few hundred small batches, or continuous large-scale orders, we can provide one-stop services from processing to DDP delivery, covering the markets of Europe, the United States and Australia.

Acrylic and PMMA actually usually refer to the same material. PMMA is the chemical name of the material, while Acrylic / Acrylic Plastic is the more commonly used term in the industry.
Yes, we can do CNC machining for them first and then consider polishing to make it more transparent.
Yes, we have in-house laser engraving machine for custom acrylic parts. Please share your CAD file with us.
Normally, our prototype lead time for precision PMMA machining is about 7 days and mass production lead time for custom acrylic parts is about 30 days.
We accept 2d and 3d drawings for your custom acrylic parts including 2d (PDF DXF DWG format files) and 3d (stp, step, stl, x_t format drawings).
For critical holes, we can achieve 0.01mm tolerance requirement. For other geometric tolerances, we can achieve a precision of 0.05mm.
Acrylic is susceptible to heat‑induced warping. We can optimize cutting parameters to reduce heat build‑up, though thin‑wall designs carry higher deformation risk.
The machining process of acrylic is different from that of metal. During your design, considering the processing methods can effectively reduce the need for subsequent modifications and processing risks.

Case Study: Custom CNC Acrylic Parts for an Ice Cream Machine
Since the part is an exposed part of the equipment, the customer not only requires accurate dimensions and installation structure, but also has high requirements for the final transparency, surface smoothness, and visual effect of the brand logo.
During CNC milling machining, we first processed the outer contour, installation holes, and internal structure according to the customer’s drawings, and focused on controlling the machining marks, burrs, and edge defects during the CNC machining. For transparent PMMA parts, the surface after machining usually has certain processing lines, so the subsequent surface treatment is very important for the final appearance.
To achieve a clearer and more transparent effect, we perform fine polishing on the designated surface to make the processed surface smoother and improve the visual effect of the acrylic edges and surface. For areas that do not require high transparency, we retain appropriate machining textures to balance appearance and processing efficiency.
After surface treatment, we conduct customized laser engraving according to the customer-provided logo pattern. The position, size, and engraving depth of the logo are controlled according to the customer’s requirements, so that the brand logo can be clearly presented on the transparent acrylic surface while maintaining coordination with the overall appearance.
