Custom Metal Enclosures By Material
Many materials are commonly used for custom metal enclosures. Different metal materials have their own characteristics in terms of weight, strength, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, machining performance, and appearance.
Get material advice from Shanghai Yecheng.

6061-T6 aluminum alloy is the top choice for cost-effectiveness, as it combines good CNC machinability, strength, and anodizing performance. 5052 is used for thin-walled structures that need to be bent.

Stainless steel enclosures have high strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. They are suitable for requirements for structural strength and specific usage environments.

They are well-suited for CNC machining and are widely used for high-end electronic products and LED enclosures. Brass enclosures have good conductivity.

Copper enclosures have excellent electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity but are easy to oxidize. We often apply a clear coating to resist dirt on the surface, oxidation, and fingerprints.
Custom Metal Enclosure By Function
The requirements for custom metal enclosures vary depending on the different devices. You may be more concerned about heat dissipation, EMI shielding, waterproofing, PCB installation, or you might need complex internal structures and precise assembly.
We evaluate these functional requirements during the engineering stage and incorporate them into the enclosure structure and manufacturing process.

If your metal electronics housing needs to protect interfaces, buttons, display screen, and the internal installation space, we will help you achieve a balance between structural strength, weight, and processing feasibility.

When your device requires both structural protection and heat dissipation, we can integrate the heat dissipation structure with the enclosures for a unified design.

We can optimize the shielding cavity, internal partitions, joint surfaces, and conductive contact areas according to your application requirements, thereby reducing the impact of the structural design on the EMI performance.

If your equipment requires special conditions, we can customize sealing grooves, O-ring interfaces, connector openings, and enclosure mating structures, while also taking into account the consistency of subsequent processing and assembly.

We can reverse-design the enclosure structure based on PCB size, component height, interface position, and installation method to ensure the PCB can be installed accurately.

They are generally only achievable with CNC machining to meet the required precision of the machine. Critical hole features can be machined to tolerances as tight as ±0.01 mm, depending on the material, geometry, machining process, and inspection requirements.
Custom Metal Enclosure By Manufacturing Process
No single manufacturing process suits all metal enclosures. Your custom metal housing’s size, structural complexity, materials, precision requirements, production quantity, and cost targets will all affect the final custom metal enclosure fabrication process.
CNC Machined Metal EnclosuresIf your enclosure has complex cavities, precise installation surfaces, threaded holes, or high dimensional accuracy requirements, CNC machining enclosures are usually more suitable.
Aluminum Extrusion + CNC Machining EnclosuresFor regular aluminum enclosures with heat dissipation requirements, the combination of extrusion forming and CNC machining can achieve a better balance between structural performance and manufacturing cost.
Sheet Metal EnclosuresSheet metal enclosures are more suitable when the size is relatively large, the wall thickness is relatively thin, and it contains a large number of bends or simple box structures.
Die Cast EnclosuresIt is commonly used for mass production, and it can also reduce the unit cost of your product. It is suitable for designs where the product has been finalized and does not require frequent version changes.
Laser Cutting + CNC Machining EnclosuresIf your parts are mainly made of sheet materials and you need quick delivery, laser cutting+ CNC machining is a more ideal option. However, you need to consider the minimum cutting radius and the surface roughness.
Custom Metal Enclosure Applications
Every industry has its own specific problems. We not only offer manufacturing, but also help you analyze and optimize solutions based on your specific industry. Tailored Enclosure Solutions for Your Industry – Request a Custom Quote

Consumer electronic products usually aim for lightweight design, good appearance, comfortable feel, high structural strength, and precise assembly accuracy at the same time.
We can offer one-stop CNC machining and sandblasting anodizing. Our own anodizing production line can achieve a high-end anodized texture.

AI and computing hardware typically have higher power consumption and heat density, so the enclosure not only serves the purpose of protection but also needs to be involved in the overall heat dissipation design.

For industrial electronic applications, we provide two guarantees regarding reliability and durability: Environmental adaptability and Structural stability.

Communication equipment is our most familiar field. We have rich manufacturing experience, and such applications require high precision. It is worth noting that if aluminum is used, the anodic oxide film is non-conductive, and we need to seal the holes in advance.

We can design heat sinks, heat channels, chip contact surfaces, thermal pad areas, and installation structures based on the location of the heat source, power, available space, and cooling methods. We can also select appropriate aluminum materials and manufacturing processes to achieve stable heat conduction.

Quality Control for Custom Metal Enclosures
For each customized metal enclosure project, we will conduct corresponding inspections based on your 2D/3D drawings.
Material Inspection
Before processing, we will first confirm the material grade, surface condition (whether there are any defects), and material dimensions. In addition, we can also provide the corresponding material certificate.
Especially for the aluminum alloy enclosure, the material grade and material condition will directly affect the processing performance as well as the color and surface effect of the subsequent anodization.
Processing Inspection
Our process inspection includes first-piece inspection and in-process inspection every two hours. Through timely detection during the processing, we can identify size deviations as early as possible and make adjustments, thereby improving the consistency of mass production.
Precision dimension inspection
For critical dimensions and high-precision structures, we use professional measuring equipment for inspection.
- Three-coordinate measuring machine (CMM)
- Keyence optical measuring equipment
- Profile measurement
- Surface roughness tester
Critical dimensions can be inspected based on the 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications provided by your side.
Surface treatment and appearance inspection
For metal enclosures, dimensional accuracy is only part of the quality, and surface treatment and the final appearance are equally important.
Depending on different surface treatment processes, we will inspect:
- Scratches, abrasions
- Sharp edges and burrs
- Surface roughness
- Surface texture
- Anodized color
- Coating
- Masked areas
- Laser engraving effect
- Stains and other visible defects
For the anodized aluminum colors, appearance and color comparisons can be made based on your samples.
Assembly and Function Test
For metal enclosures with assembly requirements, we can also conduct assembly compatibility checks.
Main confirmation points:
- PCB installation
- Thread and fastener fit
- Alignment of the top and bottom
- Connector openings
- Internal component spacing
- Installation hole positions
- Overall assembly of the enclosure
This can prevent problems such as interference, misalignment, or installation difficulties during actual assembly, even if the product dimensions are within the acceptable range.
Final inspection before shipment
After the products have undergone processing and surface treatment, we will conduct a final inspection. We will also verify against your drawings, technical requirements, and appearance standards.
Yes, sure. We can do both CNC-machined parts and sheet metal components, whichever manufacturing process for your custom metal enclosure. But you have to check the tolerances and assembly feasibility before processing.
Because custom metal enclosures enable us to design the size, structure, and colors based on your product rather than choosing enclosures that already exist in the market.
The Cost estimate for custom metal enclosures with specific dimensions varies. First, we will check your drawings, materials, and quantity. After analyzing everything, we will give you some options and lead times for different manufacturing processes for your reference and also recommend to you the best cost-effective one.
Typical lead times are listed above in a table for your reference.
